Newark N.J. Monuments to Founders

Two monuments erected in downtown Newark in 1916

Puritan and Indian Statue
by the Newark Public Library, Washington Street. The Indian and the Puritan statue by Gutzon Borglum (1867-1941), the sculptor of Mt. Rushmore presidential figures in South Dakota, is located at Broad and Washington Streets and was unveiled in 1916.
